POSTONLT40HD I have a chance to buy some White Oak logs and Red Oak logs that will be sawn in the next week or 2. I bought a tract of Pine logs from the same logger and paid $150 a thousand. Now on the tract adjacent to the Pines are mixed species with a lot of White and Red Oak.

He will let me go in ahead of him and flag/paint the Oaks I want. What is a fare offer for White Oak?What is a fare offer for Red Oak?I will be figuring these after they are bucked with my tape. NO scales involved.Remember.....I get 1st choice and I only live 4 miles from the track. So distance is a PLUS for him. Thanks Guys. Logged I'm thinking...... Peter Drouin HI lt40 hd .45 to .

Are you buying them log scale on the landing or tree scale standing and then paying the logger the put them on the landing for you? Could be a big difference on how much to pay for them. Logged NH tc55da Metavic 4x4 trailer Stihl and Husky saws POSTONLT40HD What I'm doing Bill is I walk through the tract. I paint the Oaks I want. The logger saws the trees and Bucks to my lengths. The logs are then delivered to my mill.

I then measure length and diameter and figure what I owe him on the Doyle.I didn't know what price I should be paying per board foot.Have a good day!  Logged I'm thinking...... drobertson David, If these logs are 4sc, 300-400 /thsd.  more if you want to take care of the land owner. But a fair price would be in this range for sure,  Good white oak can go for over 500 a thsd for stave bolts, Logged only have a few chain saws I'm not suppose to use, but will at times, one dog Dolly, pretty good dog, just not sure what for yet,  working on getting the gardening back in order, and kinda thinking on maybe a small bbq bizz,  thinking about it, paul case Does 4 sc mean 4 sides clear?Around here I am getting some good white oak delivered for $.

25 and $.30 would buy the best here as that is the most any mills local to me are paying.Grade logs are nice to saw since it is much more likely for every board to be perfect. The boards from them should be worth a premium. A few years ago I was selling red and white oak grade logs for as much as $.60 doyle. If you can have some control over the logs you buy from a logger you have a good deal.  PC Logged life is too short to be too serious.

Down here, hardwood is bought by the ton and is converted to the Doyle Scale using a conversion factor of 8 tons/thousand BF Doyle. This seems way high for timber on the stump. That is .24 cents a board foot. By the time you get it logged out and hauled, I just don't see it, unless I am totally missing something. Average grade hardwood logs are going around .30 cents here, at best, logged and delivered to the mill.

Actually, the only thing we consider not to be a pallet log is oak and walnut. We are paying about .22 to.25 for that delivered. And some oaks are pallet. They would have to be veneer to approach that price. Maybe that is what you have. But I don't know timber in Georgia, I am sure you do. Logged Tom L I've been paying .20-.25C a board ft doyle scale for white and red oak, my pickup at the customers location.

Logged WDH Kansas, those prices are for the best grade oak logs.  There is no veneer market here, so these would probably rate as veneer logs.  The run-of-the-mill grab-bag price for lower grade (what we call palletwood) is about $13 - $15/ton or about $100 to $120/MBF Doyle.I recently had a bid on a tract that I was selling for a family member, and the bid on the yellow poplar logs was $28/ton or $224/MBF Doyle.

These logs would be used as core stock for SYP plywood.   But, your grade prices for lumber seems to be off a bit.  Our uppers are all over $1/bf, with the exception of poplar.  Logged Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups. stavebuyer Oak stumpage will run 200-300mbf Doyle locally. Prime(18" 4 clear sides..no end defects) Red Oak oak sawlogs bring around $700 and White Oak around $1000 delivered. Veneer from $1200+.

Quality woods run Red Oak will average 450mbf and White Oak around $600 delivered. We are blessed or cursed to have numerous large grade sawmills as well markets for green and dried lumber locally. Logged CX3 I sell white oak staves for $1 delivered. And all other sawlogs for $.29 delivered. I would cut and buck for $120-130 a thousand but some are doing it much cheaper. Not me.
